WAYNESVILLE, MO — The Ozark Patriots Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) is proud to announce the formal dedication and unveiling of a new permanent monument commemorating the 250th anniversary of the United States. The ceremony will take place at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Fort Leonard Wood (MVC), marking a significant milestone in the local "America 250" celebrations.

The monument, titled "The Architects of Freedom," is a massive tribute crafted from premium grey granite, standing over five and a half feet tall. It was funded entirely through the private contributions of chapter members, who raised over $6000 to ensure a lasting legacy for the community.
"This monument serves as a bridge between the patriots of 1776 and the modern heroes interred here at Fort Leonard Wood," said Mike Presnell, member of the Monument Committee. "It is a testament to the unshakable resolve that secured our liberty two and a half centuries ago."
Ceremony Highlights The dedication will feature a full military-style program, including:
- Keynote Address: Remarks delivered by Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army (Emeritus) , Mr. Keith Pritchard.
- The Unveiling: A ceremonial reveal of the monument by Mr. Pritchard, SAR State President Ken Lawrence, President David Wathen and the MVC Director, Ms. Stacy Wilson.
- Historical Honors: A traditional musket salute performed by the SAR Color Guard in period-accurate Continental Army attire.
- Tribute: “Amazing Grace” bagpiper Mr. Daniel Jackson, and Chaplain’s prayer for the patriots of the past and present.
Monument Specifications The monument features a 42" x 60" granite die resting upon a 54" wide base. Its inscription reads, in part:
"Dedicated to the brave Patriots whose unshakable resolve secured the blessings of liberty for generations to come. Two and a half centuries later, their courage remains the bedrock of our Republic".
